Dataloader.io – Review, Price, Features (2023)

What is dataloader.io and how does it work? Any Salesforce Administrator or Consultant must be able to get data into and out of Salesforce. Did you know that there are several applications that can assist you with this?

Salesforce offers a number of data loaders, each with its own set of applications and suited to different methods of uploading and exporting your environment. In terms of my title, there is no clear winner for the best Data Loader for Salesforce because it all depends on your needs, experience, and desired ease of use.

The experience was so good that we considered replacing the Salesforce Dataloader with it. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the highlights that make it all worthwhile. In this post, I’ll go over Data Loaders I’ve used over the years, starting with an introduction to what it is about and ending with a summary of its benefits and drawbacks.

What exactly is dataloader.io?

dataloader.io is a cloud-based application that assists businesses in securely importing, exporting, and deleting data from the Salesforce database. Managers can log in with their Salesforce creds to securely access confidential information that complies with OAuth authentication methods.

Using keyboard shortcuts but also auto-mapping functionality, dataloader.io enables enterprises to map information from current source files into the required Salesforce fields. Supervisors can automate data entry tasks and import or export data on an hourly, weekly, as well as monthly basis. Managers can also view audit history and use the search function to find specific information in the database.

dataloader.io helps businesses transfer data from Box, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), DropBox, and SFTP repositories. Supervisors can also use the software to upload CSV files and safeguard confidential information using Amazon S3 server-side encryption as well as 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard.

Salesforce Professional Edition provides limited API access, but the mixture of reports as well as the Salesforce wizard did not meet the requirement. We needed something better to make this a smooth process that the client could repeat. Despite its limitations, Datatloader.io completed the task. Salesforce Professional Edition, according to their message inside the tool, supports Batch API, which enables the first 10,000 rows of an item.

  • Advantages – Simple but sophisticated user interface, cloud-based
  • Cons: dataloader.io is a free version product.

Price

The first advantage worth mentioning is the price

The first advantage worth mentioning is the price. The Free version is sufficient for one-time data loading, which is the focus of this review. This is a thing that you can consider about using this website.

If you require more robust features such as job scheduling, connection to multiple environments, or FTP support, you can upgrade to their Professional Edition for a few hundred dollars per month. The Professional Edition includes dedicated support, but both editions include Community Support, which we Salesforce Administrators know can be faster than true support.

Easy to use

To begin, it is web-based. You do not need to download or install anything to use it. (Go to their website and, in the upper left, click the “log in to Salesforce” button.) It also does not require a security token to log in. I was able to log in using the standard Salesforce login credentials without the need for a security token.

The user interface was self-explanatory, but for those who required a little help, they provided simple “How-To” pages. A wizard guides you through the process of performing any task, allowing you to select the object, and fields, and then execute.

The wizard provides easy search engine visibility throughout the steps, as well as the ability to filter, sort, and write SOQL queries. Finally, as you are about to carry out the assignment; you have a nice summary of the job with the possibility of scheduling the task as well as choosing a particular destination folder to which you can send a copy of the results.

When the task is completed, the results are displayed on a history page. The fact that you can edit, rerun, and clone the task directly from the history page eliminates the need to use the wizard again.

Conclusion

Using keyboard shortcuts but also auto-mapping functionality, dataloader.io enables enterprises to map information from current source files into the required Salesforce fields. Supervisors can automate data entry tasks and import or export data on an hourly, weekly, as well as monthly basis. Managers can also view audit history and use the search function to find specific information in the database.

What began as a search for a tool to address an issue evolved into a potential successor for an existing one. Aside from working with the Salesforce Professional Edition that met our requirements, Dataloader.io does have some really nice time-saving features that can help you with your data-loading efforts in the future.
